Bring 1 quart of cool water to boil. Immediately after it comes to a boil, remove from heat and pour the water over the tea bag. Cover, and let steep for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bag and stir in the sugar while tea is still warm. Add the 2 cups of cold water* (or less for a stronger brew). Make sure the tea is completely sealed. You may want to let the tea sit out just to cool down before putting in the refrigerator. Do not let the tea sit out longer than an hour, the tea does need to be refrigerated.
Serve over ice with a wedge of lemon or a sprig of mint.
** Preparing iced tea is pretty straight forward but you will find when speaking with different people that everyone has a slightly different way of preparing. This recipe is basic, you may find after tasting that you may want to make some changes according to your preference for the strength of the tea and/or the sweetness.
